Little Red Dress... but which one?

I can't decide, so will you please help me?

I have red (matte) silk that needs to be a dress appropriate for a Sunday afternoon wedding. It's my sister's signature color, and since she'll have to wear white that day, my sisters and I have decided to wear red for her. Did you know I'm the last of 9 (5 girls and 4 boys)? (Don't worry biggest sister... the bride does not check my blog!)

So, I need your help! I've narrowed my favorites down to these two BWOF from the May 09 issue. My fabric (amount and weight) will work for both, so I can go either way.

Dress 117 (3 dots)
Here's the pics at BWOF."Enjoy making a grand entrance? Then this slim dress in moss green satin with cap sleeves is just the thing for you! The draped front bodice is just one of its many attention-grabbing details."

I like the lines of this (sexy, sexy!), but worry about my leftover baby pooch sticking out. I think the pleats will help hide it, and I really like how simple this is for a Sunday afternoon luncheon. Just picture it in red... where's Angie the wonder-techie with Paint when I need her???

Dress 122 (2 dots)
Here's the pics at BWOF.
"Très chic! When wearing this feminine summer dress in washed silk with short balloon sleeves you’ll feel like you‘re in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris."

Paris aside, the A-line skirt will be more forgiving, but I'm afraid it's too casual. But the red silk will amp it up...
So ladies, voice your opinions. DH, you can chime in, too. Big Sis, what's your vote (I bet it's the first one...) Little Miss Princess likes the second one, but what say you?
p.s. Thanks for your compliments on the prom dress, it's a huge weight off my chest to have it be done and see how much she enjoyed it. If I didn't value your opinions and feedback, I wouldn't be asking you to help me choose this pattern now, would I???

I like the second one--and I don't think it's too casual at all!

Wow--decisions, decisions. You have a figure that can wear that beautiful form fitting dress #1. I tend to like softer styles though, like dress#2. Either would be gorgeous on you. Still, I vote #2.

I like the second one...and although it is a more casual style, the fabric choice will dress it right up!

I may be in the minority, but I vote for number 1. I like the lines and I think the pleats would be slimming.

I vote for #1 as well. Guess I am my mother's daughter.

I love both. For me, I'd go with the 2nd, but you do have the figure to pull of f the first. I'm sounding like a politician aren't I. I guess the 2nd would be my vote if I have to narrow it down to either/ or.

Number 1 vote here. Get yourself some shapewear to hold in any baby weight issues. That stuff rocks. But I seriously LOVE that first dress!!! And I'd love to see you make it first! :)

Hmmm, tough . . . I think #2. It'll be perfect in red.

Love #1. The ruching on the sides, the v-neck, the panels on the skirt...fabulous. It will look smoking hot in red. If you are worried about baby pooch, the 2nd one's tie would "point" to it more than the first.

I would morph the bodice of the green dress onto the skirt of the black one; best of both worlds. I actually prefer the whole of the green dress, but like you, I have to allow for a little extra "tummy room" at present. Have fun. OllieV

I vote for #1. I agree with Gigi. The tie will point right to your waist. Invest in some Spanx and make #1. You definitely have the figure to carry it off.

No. 1 for me. I love that dress and it would rock in red!

I love the first. It is much more elegant than the second. Sheath dresses like this are in, and you are beautiful so go for it girl.

Both are great - but it sounds like #2 may be more comfortable for you if you are worried about any bumpy bits.

It's all about the silk being dressy. Either dress is lovely. The second one might benefit from a different belt. I like the lines of the first one better and if you are worried about lumps and bumps, underline and line it. When all else fails there is always Spanx.

I think #1 is a far more classy dress and is likely to have longer staying power in your closet. I think it will slim you more than the other one too.

I like both but with the fabric you're using I'd go with first one.

I actually think either dress would work, considering the fabric. Both necklines are flattering. I like dress #2 better, but that's probably more my personal taste/body shape. I think accessories will play a big role in dressing up either dress, too.

I vote for the first dress, as it's already on my Must Sew list and I know you and I have similar tastes!

(and besides, Spanx knows no baby pooch!)
